Aligned with efforts to promote digital literacy and strengthen consumer protection, Bayan Academy
and CitizenWatch Philippines, together with Meta, SM Supermalls and government partners, will be
launching the Be Wais Civic Education Campaign against Fraud and Scams to:
● Help raise the public’s awareness of different types of scams (online shopping scam, bank
scam, investment scam, job scam, love scam, and brand impersonation scam);
● Promote a shift in people’s attitude to information they encounter, so they are able to spot
potential scams and exercise critical thinking before making a decision; and
● Empower Filipinos to fight fraud and scams, and stay safe online.
The campaign features videos, GIFs, and static assets that will be shared on social media and on
out-of-home surfaces.
The campaign’s public launch will happen on 11 May 2024 (Saturday), 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, at the
SM Mall of Asia Music Hall, Pasay City. The launch aims to introduce the campaign to the public
and to demonstrate the multi-sectoral collaboration between government, private sector and civil
society in the fight against online fraud and scams.
