Through the years, Zuellig Family Foundation (ZFF) has been implementing programs to strengthen the local health ecosystems in various jurisdictions. It provides capacity building interventions for local government units (LGUs) so these LGUs could better serve its constituents with regard to the different facets of health care. With a long-term commitment to this mission, ZFF, with the help of Bayan Academy’s services, aims to implement an Integrated Provincial Health System and Development Program (IPHSDP) which focuses on capacitating local health ecosystems for the effective implementation of their universal health care (UHC) program. To achieve this objective, the Bayan Academy and ZFF partnership is delivering the following project outputs: (1) a pilot provincial health ecosystem analysis (Bataan); (2) a manual on conducting a provincial health ecosystem analysis; (3) a training on conducting a provincial health ecosystem analysis with strategic planning and management; and (4) health ecosystem analyses to be used as the UHC readiness assessments of Bataan, Aklan, and Agusan del Sur (with Bayan Academy, ZFF, and the identified provincial local government units (PLGU) as co-authors). The last output is envisioned to be used by the PLGUs for strategic planning purposes.

As one of the identified critical outputs to achieve ZFF’s goal, Bayan Academy recently delivered a four-day training on conducting a provincial health ecosystem analysis as a means to assess the province’s UHC readiness. The training also included frameworks on how the health ecosystem analyses of the provinces can be used for strategic planning and management.
