Background
The Enterprise Development Program of the Aboitiz Foundation seeks to create opportunities for sustainable livelihoods and enterprises to generate jobs and promote entrepreneurship. By supporting cooperatives in its host communities, the program provides for the empowerment of its members while implementing businesses that will eventually allow it to distribute wealth to members.
To be able to cascade this program, Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. partnered with Bayan Academy in providing the Social Enterprise Management (SEM) Training to its two supported cooperatives in Batangas – the San Pedro Multipurpose Cooperative (SPMPC) and Kasama Halal Producers’ Cooperative (KHPC). The program aims to enable the two cooperatives to be competitive and profitable.
At the end of the project, it is expected that SPMPC and KHPC will be able to: a) come up with and implement their business plans; b) have improved knowledge and utilization of appropriate technologies to improve production and quality of their products; c) have crafted relevant policies and installed systems to support the businesses; and d) are able to mobilize resources from various agencies.
