Background
CMDC Year 8 targets to conduct Grassroots Entrepreneurship and Management to 1,200 microentrepreneurs, including the youth, in ten key cities in the country. These cities are as follows: Quezon City, Batangas City, Puerto Princesa City, Legazpi City, Iloilo City, Tagbilaran City, Cagayan de Oro City, Davao City, General Santos City and Zamboanga City. Each run will have 50 participants.
There will be 15 runs covering the microentrepreneurs from DTI (750 participants), 6 runs consisting of MFI clients (300 participants) and 3 runs (150 participants) comprising of youth entrepreneurs will be conducted to achieve the target of 1,200 participants for the GEM training or 24 runs from October 2018-May 2019. A 9-day version of GEM will be employed to 200 beneficiaries while a 3-day version will be delivered to 1,000 beneficiaries. Both versions consist of 3 modules.
For the 150 target youth entrepreneurs, Bayan Academy plans to connect with schools offering the Senior High School program and provide entrepreneurship training. The program can include the establishment of enterprise laboratories where students can develop and refine their skills in managing an enterprise. They can also be exposed to actual enterprise settings through on-the-job trainings.
Aside from GEM Training, 50 CMDC graduates or beneficiaries from grant years 2010-2017 will be mentored under SBACS. The activities will include business evaluation, coaching and mentoring of at least once a month for a span of 12 months. The sessions may be conducted through face-to-face meetings, field visits, telephone, or email.
Continuous updating of online portal (www.cmdc.ph) and release of quarterly e-newsletter was also part of Bayan’s commitment to Citi.
