Background
First Gas Power Corporation (FGPC) has a Community Relations (ComRel) Program for its host communities in Batangas. With the aim to continuously improve its ComRel program, FGPC has expressed its intent to update the profile of its host communities to know the current needs of its beneficiaries and to know how responsive FGPC’s ComRel program has been in the past.
As Bayan Academy has been working with FGPC in providing inputs for the design of its ComRel program since 2014, it has again been called to conduct this study that has the following general objectives:
- To update the community profile of FGPC’s primary partner communities;
- To assess the level of social acceptability of FGPC’s ComRel program (including its effectiveness towards enhancing overall harmonious relations with the community and the program’s social acceptability);
- To propose a ComRel strategy considering the data gathered from the study; and
- To assess the viability of a sustainable fishing livelihood project for identified fishermen and fry collectors.
In addition to the abovementioned objectives, Bayan Academy will also specifically include the following in the study: a) partner communities’ motivations to know what livelihood or social enterprise development project to focus on, b) outcomes and relevant insights from FGHPC’s skills training program graduates, and c) partner communities’ familiarity with FGPC’s transition to the First Gen brand.
The study will cover four barangays in Batangas City which have been identified as host communities. These are Sta. Rita Karsada, Sta. Rita Aplaya, Sta. Clara, and Bolbok.
